Church Prayers of Intercession

Prayers for use in Church 12 September - Trinity 15

Praying Together This Week

There has been much deliberation recently about how to provide Social Care for those in need. Our prayers this week reflect on the challenges that are faced. We pray:

Lord in your mercy
Hear our Prayer

  • For our government and its advisors; For wisdom, integrity and courage in the decisions that have to be made; For a willingness to listen and be openminded to the views of all those involved in care.
  • For providers of care facing increased demand for their services and difficulties in recruiting good staff; For care homes, community staff and hospitals.
  • For local authorities balancing budgets and managing contracts for services with limited resources.
  • For all staff providing care; For respect, recognition and appreciation for the work they do; For those unpaid carers looking after relatives and friends which can sometimes be lonely and isolating.
For those receiving care that they may be valued and treated with dignity and love; For their families as they support their loved ones.

eavenly Father, we pray for those whose hearts have been saddened by the death of someone close and dear to them, for members of our families who have died and whose anniversary we recall. Help us to experience the comfort of the Holy Spirit within us, and the fellowship of the church family around us until we are reunited once more in your heavenly kingdom.

Jesus Christ is the light of the World, a light which no darkness can quench.  We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope.  We remember today

May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory

You turn our darkness into light in your light shall we see light

Merciful Father
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ,
Amen

The Lords Prayer

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, they will be done, on earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen
